Works sucks, part 2
Don't get me wrong, I like my job most of the time, but like any job it eventually sometimes gets old. It doesn't help that I have had to walk to work the past couple days and am horribly sweaty and tired when I get there. It also doesn't help that it seems like lately most of the customers we've been getting seem as though they hit their heads in the shallow end of the gene pool, heck maybe even on the steps as they first get in the water. For example today a woman asked me a question, but since she was kind of mumbling I misunderstood. I proceeded with her order until I noticed she had an expired coupon in her hand and told her so and she flipped on me. She was like, that's what I just asked you. I was just thinking well obviously I didn't understand you since I told you about it now and why didn't you wonder why my answer to your question didn't make any sense. I also figured that if she was so upset about it, why didn't she just leave? But, no she wanted to make that bit of time for me hell, so she just bitched about it the whole way through line. And it didn't stop there, she continued to tell the person at the register and kept going on about it even after the other girl had turned around to attend to something else.
This other person actually asked me what was included in the veggie sandwhich and I told him, the vegetables. He then asked me, no what meat is on it and I said it's the veggie, there is no meat. In which case he was like I don't know if he really wants that one, I'll just wait. When the other guy came up his buddy asked which sandwhich he wanted and the guy replied the veggie. His buddy then asked no, what meat do you want and the other guy said well the lettuce and tomato and his buddy and I interrupted him to ask again what meat he wanted which he finally understood. I was really amazed by their brilliance.
Not all things are bad as work as I said before. I think I made a friend today. This cool chick with purple hair has come through line a few times and every time we actually talk(most customers just talk about the food or the weather or not at all). She's always very friendly and today I offered to visit her at her work since we both work at the mall. I went over and tried on a few pairs of expensive sunglasses and talked with her some more. I wish I wasn't such a chicken, though, because I would just ask her outright if she would want to do something some time. She's the only person in this town, from this area, who has actually talked to me about things outside of work. As sad as I may sound, I really could use a friend here. It's just too bad that my best friend couldn't come with me, but at least she'll be visiting in a week. I just hope I can get a day off to see her because unfortunately everyone and their neighbor wants that weekend off and the managers meeting is that weekend, too.
Oh, and my last little bit for the night is to state for the record that I will not be attending another late night movie again. We went to see House of Wax Sunday night and not only was it in a tiny theater, but almost everyone came late and wanted to talk. I was about to hurt the people behind me, especially when their friends arrived about 15 minutes into the movie and actually made us get up so they could sit on the opposite side of us(there were plenty of seats, but not next to their friends who they didn't need to talk to anyway since the movie had already started). I'm sorry if I sound like a total prude, but I hate when people are rude. I tried my best to ignore them and watch the movie which was alright, but totally predictable. I think I'll stick to the times when it's only old people in the theater, not to mention only probably 10 other people in there.
