Another day another dollar
I went to work again today, but today I got to have the experience of working Subway drive thru. Who the hell came up with Subway drive thru? We aren't really fast food in the first place, but we have to make ourselves look like it I guess. It actually wasn't so bad because luckily not many people use the drive thru and most people who go through actually know what they are doing and are really nice. I, however, did have this one car with two girls in it who seemed to be done with their transaction by the time I gave them their food and their change, like it would normally be. I was sadly mistaken. Not only did I catch them littering in our parking lot as I was getting their change but after they were supposedly done with their order, they began to order some more. Ok, when you say you are done and have nothing else to order you should mean it. They not only ordered more stuff at the window after they already paid for the first stuff, but they ordered it one by one(as in they ordered one thing, paid for it, then ordered something else). Not only were they being major pains in the asses, but they also were giggling about it on top of it. I wanted to kick their stupid pretty blonde faces in. But I didn't, I remained calm and smiled at them and took their many orders without letting them know how I felt. Then I bitched about them to my coworkers afterwards. That's the way to handle it in the food business. The second event of the day was when these two Muslim women came in and ordered sandwiches. They ordered their food, we started making it, and then they went outside. I figured at first that they were just unfamiliar with how the Subway thing works and they'd be right back in, but then I noticed that there they were outside talking with police officers along with this group of teenagers(of whom one of my coworkers, Mitch, said he had been flipped off by earlier that day). We were in the middle of lunch rush, but we kept the two women's sandwiches sitting there waiting to be finished until about 20 minutes had passed and we gave up on them returning and threw them away. From the looks of it we figured that they must have gotten in an accident with those kids and while they were waiting for the cops they decided to grab something to eat. By the time they got to the front of the line the cops had shown up so they were in such a hurry to get out of there that they didn't tell us they were going nor finished their order. We thought it strange they would do that, but again assumed they didn't know what to do in the situation. About five minutes after we threw their sandwiches away they came back in wanting them so my other coworker, Kristie, started making them again and before she could get the meat on the bread the two women left again. I just looked at her and was like, "They did not just do what I think they did," and she said "Yep, looks like it." I couldn't believe it, that they left the line not once but twice. When I relayed the story back to another manager she said she would've gotten the money from them first the second time around. I was just in shock, who would do that, I mean even if you are from a different culture why would you leave a place where they make your food to your liking and expect it to be ready for you when you get back without telling them what you want or that you will be coming back for it? I don't know, but that was the craziest thing I've seen so far. Not only did they walk out once, but they did it twice. For craziness.
