Lake party

We got invited to a lake party by a classmate of mine on Sunday. It was really surprising fun. I mean I knew we'd enjoy it, but I didn't expect to stay at this woman's house for 12 hours. We were the first to arrive, but it didn't take long for others to show up. The first people there were my fellow group members from forensic anthropology class, which the woman hosting was as well. The professor also showed up and we all had a chance to catch up. Most of them ended up leaving after the food was ready and they had gotten a chance to eat. Then Ben, Jade, and I as well as some others went out for a ride on the speed boat, which Jade loved. Jade made a new friend while she was there, a 15 year old named Katie and they were attached at the hip almost the whole time we were there. They went out on the dock fishing together and named the fish they caught when they released them. Jade came up with the name Charlena, which she must have heard somewhere since almost all of her dolls are named Jade. After some fishing and some gymnastics demonstrations by my hosts kids(they all have really impressive skills) we went out for a pontoon ride. Jade wanted it to go faster. My host's husband finally convinced four people-including Ben-to go tubing by the time it was starting to go dark. We loaded back up on the speed boat again(oh some other people from school that we didn't know had arrived a little bit earlier and joined us on the boat)but this time we had the tube following us. Jake was the first to go and he did decent. Then Ben went and Ben did awesome, the boat's driver-the husband-was brutal and Ben made it through several strong waves before tumbling off. Jake's friend went next and did okay, and lastly went Fatima, Jake's girlfriend and she did pretty well especially since she was the only one of them who didn't grow up in America with the whole water sports experience. (Well plus the boat's driver was being a little nicer to her than he was to the guys.) By the time she had finished up it was dark out. They then started the bonfire and I made myself some perfectly burnt marshmallows. Jade had figured how to toast hers and made herself one, although I had to take it off the stick for her and make her s'more. Anyway, people slowly began leaving by then and when we finally left it was just the hosts and those of us who had been on the speed boat the last go round. We left with an invite to come back anytime and we'll probably take them up on the offer. It was really refreshing to hang out with so many people with completely different backgrounds and have such a good time.
